Reflection in a Pool (Jesse Thornton)

My name is Jesse Thornton, native of Point Pleasant and current resident of Huntington, West Virginia. In 2014 when I was inspired to pick up a camera as a simple excuse to get out of my comfort zone, travel more and document my journeys. I quickly became obsessive about the art of photography and addicted to chasing down the adventures that were born from that obsession. I’ve learned there's nothing more gratifying to me than finding that rarely glimpsed scenic vista painted with warm, late evening light; or a lonely, forgotten night sky untouched by artificial lights. Nothing makes me more inspired and motivated than capturing my home state of West Virginia. Here, we have some of the richest and most diverse scenery in the country, furnishing different looks throughout the four seasons of the year. Influenced by the genre of fantasy and science, my aim is to capture the surreal nature of these landscapes in hopes of encouraging others to discover the beauty of West Virginia.

My target demo is anyone who appreciates the beauty of West Virginia and would like to take a little piece of the state home with them. Whether it's a post-card sized matted photographic print featuring a West Virginia scenic at $10 or a $280 ready to hang elegant fine art piece on metal, I offer various printed products that hit price points anyone can afford from $3 to $400+.

The WV Company (Bernadette Dombrowski)

The West Virginia Company (@thewvconoany) was founded on the belief that West Virginians deserve products and goods made in West Virginia inspired by West Virginia.

The West Virginia Company offers t-shirts, sweatshirts, swimsuits, stickers, wall hangings, and more ranging in price from $3 - $50.

Wildcravt (Diana Black)

My business exists to nurture and share ideas and images that are meaningful to me. I make art that speaks about the experience of being Appalachian, about being human in this time of hurt and sorrow, about the magic that whispers from woods and wild places. I work primarily in graphite, ink, and watercolor, with the occasional foray into block printing and screen printing. I've only recently (November 2021) begun to sell work online and at in-person events, but I've enjoyed bringing my work to public spaces and fostering a sense of community around the themes and images I love.

I offer mostly art prints and stickers, but I do occasionally have small originals, patches, totes, and banners available as well. My items range in price from $6 for stickers, to $200 or more for small originals. I also bring “misprint” boxes to events, containing items priced substantially below retail (e.g. a $20 print may be discounted to $5 in this box). I welcome any customers who relate to the work I make, but I find that my audience mostly consists of women ages 18-50, specifically those with an interest in the natural world and/or occult elements. If you’d like more detailed information on my pricing, you can check out my Etsy (etsy.com/shop/wildcravt) or email me (wildcravt@gmail.com) for a wholesale catalog!

They have done several in-person events and currently have their items in two retail locations, Pockets of Time in Kingwood, WV and Bent River Trading Company in Capon Bridge, WV. They’re both excited to be on this journey together sharing their favorite scents with locals and managing their Etsy shop to spread their scents throughout the country.

Midnight Solstice specializes in snap bar wax melts that look like yummy candy bars, but smell fantastic. Their candle line is made with a creamy soy coconut blend, and share most of the same scents as their wax melts without the dyes for a clean burn. Their most popular scent at their events last year was Saturday Cartoons that smells just like your favorite cereal from childhood!

Wax Melts are $4 each or 2 for $7, the 4oz Candles are $6 each or 3 for $15 and 8oz Candles are $9 each or 3 for $25. Acute Peach Art became Lizzy’s full time job at the beginning of the pandemic, and has been the best decision she’s ever made. Art has always been her safe space, and sharing her work with others who relate makes it all worth it. Lizzy would describe their style as multifaceted as they’re constantly changing mediums and styles. She’s not a serious person, so finding freedom in making funny frogs alongside semi-realistic oil paintings has been a great experience.
